My revised and longer version of my #poem called The Earth Weeps by Songbird inspired by #MichaelJackson’s #EarthSong

The Earth Weeps Poem

By Songbird

Look at what we have done to our planet

And how we have wounded our planet

The planet that gave us all life like a womb

Is now being selfishly doomed and consumed

As we have cut deep into the core like a knife

Now can you feel it in the teardrops of our Earth’s rain?

The weeping shores of our planet’s pain

The cries of those who survived our wars

And those who we’ve denied like the poor

Along with the voices that we have ignored

And all of the lives that we have left to die

The smog that fills our skies and hides our sunrise

And all for what so we all can obtain more

Can’t you feel it in the teardrops of our Earth’s rain?

The weeping shores of our planet’s pain?

And we say that we are here only for peace

But it seems that war is all we unleash

And hatred is all we wanna increase

And greed is all we wanna obtain

As we look at lands as another piece

That we can slice up, buy or gain,

As we strip the animals of their rights to be free

And cut down the Earth’s trees and kill the rainforest

And bleed out the seas, pump out the oil from beneath

Just so we can feed our needs with no remorse

As we poison the very air that we all breathe

And all for what so we all can obtain more

Can’t you feel it in the teardrops of our Earth’s rain?

The weeping shores of our planet’s pain?

So do you wanna know what’s in store?

That waits to seal our human’s fate

It’s us always wanting to accumulate

Miscommunicate and look for ways

Of how we can mutilate our planet that much more

While we excommunicate ourselves

Based on our differences and our faith

As we replace love with wealth and hate

And forget mouths that are hungry

As we leave our countries in a bad state

So we can achieve sending rockets to space

In hopes of defining ourselves as being great

As that’s the fate of our human race that awaits

And all for what so we all can obtain more

And find new ways to ignore our planet’s pain

Can’t you feel it in the teardrops of our Earth’s rain?

The weeping shores of our planet’s pain?
