Songbird #poem 2016

Don’t matter if you’re fat, slender

Black, white, a Jew or a transgender

Bisexual, straight or a homosexual

Read the Quran, bible or if you’re a Hindu

Or if you’re a homeless man without shoes

Or a rich man on the news

Because all hearts beat alike,

But we pick and choose

Who doesn’t and who dose have rights

As equality is like a ruse

Used to keep the masses confused

And have no apologies for who we slight

Leaving love to ultimately lose

As we fight, kill, sue for the thrill

Take pills, blackmail, drink booze, back in jail

Pin guns on the color of one’s skin

Or if they are mentally ill

As we are back to singing our blues
